Calanthe sieboldi ( Ebine 海老根 )



Thew are from my friends garden. One day I have to start collecting those beauties...They are on my wish list! Where will I put them? Well... I will worry then! ;) Calanthe.

Is it a shrub? Very pretty.

Arlene, it is a kind of orchid that grows here in some gardens. I think they are actually called Calanthe sieboldi or Ebine 海老根 ( "Root like the shrimp") in Japanese. They grow under the trees in partial shade reaching about 25-50 cm. I had quite a big clump in my very first garden (came with the house).
